Description

Stone castles were built in Latvia in the Middle Ages. A large part of these castles are now in ruin, but a number of them, for instance, Turaida Castle. It is Turaida Castle – an outstanding gem of Medieval architecture built in 1214. The red-brick walls of the castle rise over the picturesque Gauja River Valley.The broad area of Turaida Museum Reserve is rich with archaeological, architectural, historical and art monuments, which tell us about many historical events over thousands of years, starting from the 11th century.

01.05. – 30.09. - from 9.00 until 20.00
01.10. – 31.10   - from 9.00 until 19.00
From 10.00 a.m. – 18.00 open all expositions at Turaidas museum
From 9.00 – 10.00 and 18.00 – 20.00 (19.00) opens all teritory, the wall and the castle tower and  southern housing
